We told you about Phil Robertson leaving HTC last week. Now, it seems that two other Senior HTC execs left the company. Atkins and Coombes apparently left HTC days after the Taiwanese phone maker announced EMEA co-founder Philip Blair was to take over the post of Phil Robertson as the new HTC UK’s lead of its UK and Ireland division.
A spokesman from HTC would not confirm whether Atkins and Coombes will be replaced or whether they have new jobs to go to. HTC’s Senior UK Marketing Manager Gaelle Walton is expected to assume some of Atkin’s responsibilities.
The Taiwanese phone maker is set to change its Marketing techniques in their goal to appeal more to the mass market and to build a brand that is targeted for young consumers.
Yes, the company newly launched its HTC One recently, and Atkins said that HTC will look to “own the conversation” on social media with strategic media buys to simply penetrate the busy mobile phone market heavily dominated by Samsung and Apple.
From Freesat, Atkins joined HTC in 2011. He was the Commercial Marketing Manager of the company. Since his involvement with HTC, he has overseen several marketing campaigns for the companies One series and basically was in charge of the company’s UK and Ireland activation of the brand’s sponships of the UEFA Champions League and the MOBO Awards.
Meanwhile, Coombes joined HTC in 2011 as well, but this time, he came from the company’s rival Nokia, where he was in charge of the company’s EE account.
What’s happening with the Taiwanese phone maker’s Senior executives? Why are they leaving the company after they’ve just launched its biggest and potentially a hit device the HTC One?
Your thoughts please.
